Iron Maiden publica el 26 de marzo Maiden England, concierto grabado en directo en 1988

El 26 de marzo de 2013, Iron Maiden publica el 2-DVD Maiden England, un concierto grabado los días 27 y 28 de noviembre de 1988 en el NEC de Birmingham, durante la gira mundial Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son y que ahora se lanza por primera vez en DVD.
 
Con 110 minutos de duración, el DVD-1 contiene el concierto completo que se publicó originalmente en formato VHS en noviembre de 1989, e incluye tres canciones que no aparecían en esta edición: Running Free, Run To The Hills y Sanctuary. El DVD ha sido remasterizado digitalmente, corrigiendo el color para conseguir la mejor imagen posible y añadir sonido 5.1 surround mezclado de nuevo por Kevin Shirley, productor de Iron Maiden. El concierto fue meticulosamente dirigido y editado por Steve Harris, bajista y miembro fundador de la banda y recoge todos los aspectos de un concierto de los Maiden.
 
El DVD-2 es un largo y exclusivo documental de 40 minutos con entrevistas recientes con los cinco miembros del grupo y el mánager Rod Smallwood. Tomando la historia después de la gira World Slavery Tour del 84-85, este documental presenta el grupo hablando sinceramente de una época turbulenta de la que surgirían los discos Somewhere In Time y Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. Los años 80 significaron un antes y un después para Iron Maiden.
 
Este DVD también incluye Twelve Wasted Years, un documental de 90 minutos lanzado en 1987 en VHS y que ahora aparece por primera vez en DVD, con entrevistas de archivo e imágenes de los comienzos del grupo en el ahora mítico pub Ruskin Arms, en el Marquee de Londres y de tres giras mundiales. También están cinco vídeos restaurados de singles, mejorados con las últimas técnicas digitales.
 
El mánager Rod Smalwood afirma: “Hemos estado mucho tiempo trabajando en mejorar la calidad del concierto con el productor y director del filme Andy Matthews. El vídeo VHS ha estado descatalogado mucho tiempo, nuestros fans han estado esperando esta reedición mucho tiempo y merecía la pena dedicarle este esfuerzo. Será muy interesante ver la evolución del grupo en directo desde entonces hasta ahora, con todos los avances de la tecnología moderna y las mejoras que hemos sido capaces de hacer”.
 
Maiden England se publica en los formatos 2DVD, 2CD, 2LP (con edición limitada Picture Disc) y para descarga digital. En la edición de 1984 en CD se perdían dos canciones (Can I Play With Madness y Hallowed Be Thy Name) que estaban en el vídeo. Estas canciones se incluyen en la nueva edición de 2013.
 
En 2012, Iron Maiden realizó una gira por Inglaterra con todas las entradas vendidas y en 2013 continuará su periplo por Europa, que pasará por Madrid el 31 de mayo y por Barcelona el 1 de junio en el Sonisphere Festival. El contenido de Maiden England es:

Parece ser que, entonces, a los de EMI Music Spain no les han transmitido completa la información del contenido del doble DVD o han sido ellos mismos a los que se les ha olvidado.

Genial! lo anunciamos antes que la propia web de Maiden!!  

a ver que seran los contenidos extras, esta claro que continuará la historia de Maiden, no entenderia que fuese de otra manera... pero creo que lo interesante serán los extras. Supongo que algo de Donington 88, la BBC lo emitió creo... pero no se si caerá nada del SIT, aunque a muchos nos gustaría.

Dudo que saquen BluRay, puesto que este concierto no esta grabado en HD, esta grabado en video con las limitaciones técnicas de la época. Un Bluray seria bastante un timo, puesto que el Maiden England no va a tener más calidad que lo que cabe en un DVD, puesto que se grabó en señal de video PAL... por eso no tendrá nunca calidad HD, diferente seria si estuviese grabado en film, que se re-escanearian los fotogramas y se puede obtener calidad FullHD, y lo que quieras... pero el Maiden England es señal de video, y con eso no se pueden hacer demasiados milagros, aunque si que mejorará la calidad, puesto que el VHS era un sistema de muy baja calidad de imagen, y solo con pasarlo a DVD, se va a ver mejor.

Lo siento colegas, esa es toda la información que nos ha facilitado EMI, tal cual, no hay más... cuando la noticia se publique en IM.com supongo que se darán más detalles...

Supongo que en el deseo de todos está que esos extras contangan algo sobre la gira "Somewhere on Tour"... y ciertamente esta entrega debería seguir la senda de sus predecesores: "The early days" nos contó su aventura hasta "Piece of mind", la reedición de "Live after death" nos contó todo lo que sucedió con "Powerslave"... y la reedición de "Maiden England"... "debería"... incluir datos e imágenes en vivo de una época gloriosa de Maiden y sin embargo tan marginada por la propia banda. Tiene sentido que así sea, pues no ha habido gira de la que no hayan dejado documento gráfico. Ahora bien... tengo el presentimiento de que es bastante factible que no incluyan absolutamente nada, o de que si lo hacen, sea del todo insuficiente. En todo caso, sólo el tiempo nos dirá el contenido de esos discos... Ahora que, digo yo, la demanda de imágenes en vivo de 1986-87 la compartirán muchos fans en todo el mundo, ¿no? ¿Qué mejor tributo a sus fans nos harían?

Esta sería la gran ocasión de disponer de, aunque fuera, un fragmento de concierto del somewhere on Tour. Creo que yo tengo un bootleg en video de philadelphia u otro lugar de los USA que esta filmado por la TV, por lo que tiene una calidad aceptable. Creo que la historia tendría que continuar y los videos incluidos, Somewhere on Tour, Donington88 son necesarios.
Por otra parte, sería buen momento para incluir algo del no prayer for the Dying, pese a que este si es el gran olvidado en los LPs de Maiden con Bruce.
Sería arriesgado hacer una parte de la historia aglutinando No Prayer, X Factor y Virtual, por mucho Fear of the Dark que aparezca en medio. Veo más Centralizar el siguiente paso en Fear of the Dark y añadir un poco de escaqueo X Factor y virtual, pese a gustarme mucho a mi el X factor, y el siguiente, hacer el regreso de Bruce ynueva era Maiden.

EMI are proud to announce the highly anticipated release of the Double Disc DVD MAIDEN ENGLAND ‘88 on 25 March. Now available for the very first time on DVD, this live show was filmed across two sold-out nights at Birmingham N.E.C Arena, UK in November 1988 during the band’s “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son World Tour”. Disc one contains the concert which has been specially upgraded and extended from the existing 1989 longform VHS release and now includes three previously unreleased encores: Running Free, Run To The Hills and Sanctuary thereby completing the full concert with a total running time of 110 minutes . Maiden’s own Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews went back to the 1988 edit and painstakingly remastered each shot digitally; colour correcting and grading to give the image the best possible look from that time. As well as the VHS stereo sound track by Martin Birch, the band’s producer between 1981 and 1993, the DVD also includes a brand new 5.1 audio surround mix by Maiden’s current producer Kevin Shirley. The concert was meticulously directed and edited by bass player and founder member Steve Harris, so as to capture the performance from a fans-eye view of the stage, focusing fully on the music, the elaborate stage production and the lighting. Add into the mix an electrifying set list and of course Eddie, and Maiden England now offers a snapshot of a bygone era in which the band, as they continue to do today, devote their all in delivering the ultimate live experience for their fans.
 
Disc two is an extensive bonus disc featuring an exclusive documentary charting Part 3 in the History of Iron Maiden. This 40-minute film comprises recent interviews with the five band members and manager, Rod Smallwood. Picking up the story in the aftermath of the ‘84/85 World Slavery tour, this interesting and insightful documentary sees the band speak candidly about their memories of an exciting and occasionally turbulent period from which would emerge the albums Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. As the Eighties began to draw to a close, so did another chapter in Maiden’s compelling history.
 
Other special extras on the bonus disc include Twelve Wasted Years. First released as a longform VHS in 1987 and available for the first time on DVD, this documentary runs for 90 minutes and includes archive interviews and dynamic live footage from the band’s beginnings in the now legendary Ruskin Arms pub, via London’s Marquee club and three World Tours. Five promo videos for the singles from the aforementioned albums are also featured and have been carefully restored and improved upon from the original films using the very latest software with the audio remastered in digital stereo.

Manager Rod Smallwood comments “We've been busy upgrading this concert footage for a long time, with our in-house Film Producer and Director Andy Matthews working tirelessly to weave his magic yet again!. The 1989 VHS video has been largely unavailable for many years and we know how eagerly our fans have been awaiting the new version so we wanted to give it the best possible treatment. The current Maiden England World Tour which continues later this year revisits much of the set list and production from the initial 1989 VHS release so it will be interesting to compare just how much has changed in terms of our 2013 live show production, especially with all the advances in modern technology and the improvements we've been able to make to the set”.

The Maiden England ‘88 concert soundtrack will also be made available on 2CD album, Limited Edition double vinyl picture disc and Digital Download formats. The audio had previously only ever been available before on CD as part of EMI’s 1994 Sound And Vision Series packaged alongside the VHS, but with two tracks fewer than the video contained. Can I Play With Madness and Hallowed Be Thy Name were not featured as there was no space on the 1CD disc. Now with the three encores also included the double disc offers a total of 5 tracks previously unavailable on CD making this the first full and complete audio recording release of this historic tour.
